Personal

When I started my blog I simply wanted to write about acne products and hair care, but now I want to give information to my readers on anyways they can make their lives better in regards to their skin and overall health. I refuse to post about things I have not yet first handily experience, why?? Because I cannot give a genuine review if I haven’t. My blog is not for myself it is for you!! My family of readers thus my overall aim is to create a virtual environment when you can let you hair down ask me questions, get responses promptly and share with me your lives as I share mine.
My blog is beneficial to reader because when they enter my page they are left with great tips for beauty treatments, a good laugh, they get my complete honesty and such they gain more confidence themselves. Inspiring people to step outside their comfort zone ignites an adventurous side to them. It’s fun to try something new it breaks the boring cycle of life.
A couple years ago when my acne was at its worst and my self-esteem was in hiding in a Cuban jail. The only thing people seemed to give me credit for was my bone straight relaxed hair. At school was the worst my classmates would give me backhanded compliments about my hair while they teased my Mount Everest that had taken over my face. “Taneka your hair is so long and smooth, too bad your face full of bumps you are almost cute today.” Man who gave them the right to be so mean! Huh I swear high school was just not my place. I felt degraded every day I had no friends it just seemed I was in the hole by myself that was dark, dirty and cold. I must have cried myself to sleep every other night. I couldn’t tell my mom what was going on, or how I felt I just knew I hated school and so I started telling my mom I was sick so I didn’t have to go. My sister found out about what was going on with me and she gave me a talk, at the time I didn’t even want to mention it I was too embarrass but what I didn’t appreciate then I live by today. She said “In life nothing last forever, those who tease you today they are probably facing self-esteem problems.” Was she right or was she right! I found out shortly after that those same girls were jealous of my hair! Sounded ridiculous but teenagers are a mystery. In life we are all faced with obstacles that are meant to grow us as a person so we should run from them instead we should find the courage to tackle them head on. People will always have opinions about you, but that’s what they are! Opinions!!! They shouldn’t matter as long as the opinion and belief you have of your self is what you want. So love yourself endlessly because you are amazing!!!

Coconut oil

If you are like me with 4B kinky thirsty hair, I urge you to try sealing with coconut oil.  Yes I said coconut oil; “Heller” if you did not know let me enlighten you. Coconut oil which comes from coconuts. It is one of the few natural oils scientifically proven to penetrate the hair shaft resulting in the users experiencing softer, shiny more manageable hair.
This oil has been around for many years, it has multiple usage from acne treatment, cooking, and hair treatments and beyond. Additionally it is a popular ingredient in most house hold products.
So if you are frugal like myself and wish to benefit from this amazing oil but aren't willing to spend up to 1200 JM dollars on a bottle I implore you to try making it right in your own kitchen. However unlike me if you cannot extract the meat with a knife please ask an adult.....yes I am adult lol. Removing the meat can be a little challenging sadly it cost me the loss of a bit of blood. So please ask someone who is more of an expert with a knife.
Firstly you need 1 or 2 dry coconuts preferably aged. Older coconuts produce more meat thus more oil. After obtaining your nut now we need to crack it open and extract the meat. The meat is what we want so now we need to shred the meat into tiny bits. This can be done with a greater or a high-end power shredder. Now here comes the fun part we will now combine the shredder meat with water as best as possible. My advice is to use a sizable container, use your hands for best result. Now kick your feet up and watch some Netflix movies...joke.
After we have married the coconut meat with the water we need to cover the container and let it sit for at least 12 hours over night for best results. In the morning you will see some milk like substance at the top and the water at the bottom. Scoop off the top and place it into a pot and then start boiling it on your stove. This takes a little while but just keep eyeing it until the oil emerges.
There you have it guys and that’s how you make coconut oil. I give this oil 5 stars from experience however if you do not wish to wait or go through this lengthy process just purchase it from one of those organic stores.

Mary Kay Brand review

Mary Kay is an American privately owned multi-level marketing/direct sales company that sells cosmetics products. They have a strong presence on Facebook; with over 2 million and growing likes on their page. They post on average every 9 hours which could be considered moderate, still they could be more active and post every two hours. As it relates to their response time this I found to be weak. For instance it was observed that they took up to two or four days to respond to questions about their products and services; let’s be honest at least 80 percent of their target market is active online around the clock. Therefore who has time to wait four days to get a proper feedback from any company.............not me? Lol. This could pose a potential problem if it hasn’t already for them. Companies like Mary Kay needs to understand that their entire business revolves around their consumers and thus “We want what we want! And we want it the time we want”.
Mary Kay’s persona online is very sincere and far from generic. Although their response time is slow, when they did reply it came off as pleasant and honest as if they really wish to help. From this I can say that the companies over all goals does align with their online presence.
They frequently post photos of a human’s face depicting the correct way to apply cosmetic. As well as they give tips and cute tricks for their audience to benefit from. In addition they have look books for makeup looks such as Smokey eyes, flirty/fun look, natural looks and they post the exact products they use to accomplish the looks. I found this to be very helpful to people who are new to makeup. However they could step their game up and offer some discount codes for popular products or an actual follow along video for their followers.
As far as if they benefit from earned or paid media, I did see evidence that supports that they benefited from both but more from paid. There were only a few tags of customers raving about their foundation or powders, while the extent were paid.
For a page with over 2 million likes! There were only thousands of actual likes or comments on the material they shared. On average it was 8 thousand per post which is kind of sad when you think about it. They clearly have the awareness and has positioned themselves as a solid cosmetic company in their consumer’s mind however they lack real presence and the ability to engage their target audience to be considered a brand which is trending. For this weakness I recommend them to be more active on their page and post more follow along videos.

About me

My name is Taneka, I’m a Jamaican university student with a true passion for everything feminine and beautiful. I loving doing my makeup, getting my hair styled not to mention my absolute comfort in life….wait for it wait for it…..”Trumpets sounds” getting a pedicure. I swear by it, it’s my favorite way to relax and just indulge in who else but myself. When I was younger I had really bad acne prone skin over the years with a bit of self-love and patience plus thousands of dollars spent on doctors visit i finely figured out what triggered my acne, stress, dairy products and hormonal imbalance. I begin to explain how wearing foundation gave me the courage on days where I felt I wanted to melt off my face, hide away in a cave and change my name to BRAD. Don’t ask me why brad lol. I use to be teased because of my acne then my foundation became my skin, erasing my pimples temporally. If I’m known for anything it would be the “fleekness” of my brows I slay every single day.
Otherwise from makeup I love changing up my hair, as it relates to the whole good hair bad hair debate I honestly thought I had bad hair. It didn’t curl up like how my sisters did when water touched it. It want shiny or soft. Instead it was fine kinky and hello stubborn. However with the whole natural hair movement guess who started to see the beauty in her 4b kinky hair??? Yup this chick. It’s kind of that express no one is ugly sometimes they are just broke. Well no one has bad hair they just need to find the right products.
I want to inspire someone male or female as many people as possible to just accept themselves and love themselves because beauty is multi-dimensional it has no standards in today modern world beauty to me is uniqueness what makes a person different. So I’m trying to stand out as much as I can and live as much as possible because life is beauty and love.
